Name: Brian "Sir Arthur" Doyle

Qualifications: Open Water Diver

Diving since: 2006

Profile: Brian is retired, so of course, he’s now working harder than ever, renovating a house. When he’s not diving, he’s a bit of a twitcher, and likes bird watching! (Incidentally, so does Mike!). Brian took up diving so that he could get a bit closer to the wildlife and he would love to dive with dolphins, as they are so graceful and sociable. His favourite movie is An American Werewolf in London, because it’s funny and scary and has a great soundtrack.

Name: Chris Doyle

Qualifications: Open Water Diver

Diving since: 2006

Profile: Chris (who’s an Aries) is a HGV driver, so he should be OK driving the club van and towing the boat! He decided to learn to dive to take on a new challenge. He hasn’t got a favourite dive site yet… but he would love to return to St Lucia with Deborah, and do some diving out there. His fav sea creatures are whales & dolphins and he’s a bit of a Quentin Tarintino fan.

Name: Deborah Doyle

Qualifications: Novice Diver

Diving since: 2006

Profile: Deborah is a nurse, not just any old nurse, but a gynaecology nurse! She’s a crab…her star sign is Cancer. She only decided to learn to dive because hubby Chris kind of bullied her into it. Her favourite dive site so far is Crewe pool (well, she is only a beginner !), but she loves St Lucia and would love to go diving there. He fav sea creatures are dolphins and seahorses and her fav movie is Gone With The Wind, watched while chilling on the sofa with a bottle of Baileys!

Name: Don "Mafia" Grocott

Qualifications: Non-diving member

Diving since:

Profile: Don came along to support his grandson, Tim, in learning how to dive. Don is semi-retired, but can still be found working in his dry-cleaners. When Don first joined the club, he couldn’t do a duck dive, and now he can swim a full length underwater! He gets the award for our most improved snorkeller!

Name: Graham "Love-rug" Owen

Qualifications: Club Diver

Diving since: 2006

Profile: Graham is another of our Bentley boys, he’s a sewing machine engineer, so is quite capable of running up a nice pair of curtains ! He’s a Leo, and started scuba diving because he had done a lot of snorkelling, so scuba seemed like a logical next step to take. When he’s not diving, he loves flyfishing (we’ll need to watch him with the trout at Capernwray!) He would love to go diving in the Maldives, and would love to see a leopard shark.

Name: Jake Close

Qualifications: Open Water Diver

Diving since: 2005

Profile: Jake is currently a student, so that will explain why he feels like he does "nothing" for a living... however, his part time job is playing in a band.... so get his autograph now.. he could be the next big thing! His favorite movie is "School Of Rock", cause it's funny and cool... Jake can blame learning to dive on his dad, Tony. His favorite dive site is Capernwray, because there is loads of fish, and interesting stuff to see. His favorite marine animal is the octopus, becase they are a little bit different, and really smart and interesting

Name: John Heath

Qualifications: Club Diver

Diving since: June 2006

Profile: John is an Engineering Consultant He started diving because he has done loads of snorkelling. He always wanted to go scuba diving, but lack of time due to other interests/hobbies prevented me from training and qualifying properly. He’s now found some time, in between holidays, to finally learn! He’s pretty well travelled, and loves any where warm e.g. Red Sea, Andaman Sea, Malaysia, the Med, Florida and California. He’s snorkelled in many parts of the world and hopes to revisit some for diving when he’s retired. His fave movie is Jaws…. but he admits that it scares him even more now he’s started diving.

Name: John Marks

Qualifications: Elementary Diver

Diving since: Feb 2007

Profile: John is retired, so he should have lots of time to spend on his newest hobby…diving !! John decided to finally take up diving, after having a long time ambition to learn. He’s not sure where his favourite place to dive is yet, but he loves watching documentaries and dive programs on tv, and fancies exploring some of the places he’s seen. John is going to find a kindred spirit in Jan, as his best loved marine creatures are crabs, purely because they are soooo tasty!!

Name: Mel "Smelly (school kids are sooo imaginitive)" Knight

Qualifications: Novice Diver

Diving since: 2005

Profile: When Mel was a little girl, she dreamed about being a pink mermaid, so it was a natural progression for her to join the police force when she grew up??!! The mermaid thing was the reason she decided to learn to dive (that, and the fact that she wanted to impress Justin!) Her favourite dive site is Capernwray, because of the sit-on horse! She’s an Aries, and her fav movie is Shallow Hal, because "what matters is who you are, and not what you look like"!
