Tony Petch's Custom Leather Stock Inserts
As a person...I have always been
interested in any sort of amateur craft...and I enjoy 'tinkering' and 'messing
about with stuff'...as we say in the United Kingdom.
Many moons ago...I happened to pick up a magazine about leather-tooling...by a
feller named Al Stohlman and I was instantly hooked. I could not believe such
intricate and beautiful work could be wrought from a lump of leather...and I
just had to have a go at this art form.
Over the preceding years...I pulled together a few tools and did a bit...read a
bit...did a bit more and became somewhat proficient...although I still have a
lot to learn....mind you...most of the enjoyment comes from getting there...so
it's worth the effort in the first place.

Similar thing happened with the Crosman
2250 Ratcatcher...
As with the leather-tooling and tinkering...I have always been an airgun
fan...and will admit to being a dedicated 'springer' man (the term used for the
spring/piston system of standard air guns). I will also admit to looking
upon the Crosman 2250 Ratcatcher chassis as a 'fun gun'...the power outage on
the standard weapon is very poor compared to the more powerful springers.
Anyway...I happened across a Ratcatcher which had a badly leaking valve...and it
was given to me to see if I could effect repairs. I stripped the gun...and in
the effort to gain more information...logged onto the internet...where a whole
new world of customizing opened up.
Again...I was well and truly hooked...and the rest...as they say...is
history...!
Will say...that it hasn't always been plain sailing...but when it comes
together...!!!
