One-wheel trailers are better for touring as they offer less rolling resistance and follow the same track as your bike. Even heavily loaded and on rough tracks, you are hardly aware of their presence. Two-wheel trailers are ideal for urban use as they are stable when parked, and can be easily detached from your bike to wheel around.

You need to ensure that the brakes on your bike are sufficient to cope with the extra weight, and allow extra stopping distance when riding. In the UK. a trailer needs to be fitted with a red reflector and a BS-approved red light for use at night.
