Over 3700 people attempted to climb Aconcagua in the 2009-10 season. From the table it can be seen that in the busiest week of the period over 500 people climbed the mountain, the vast majority taking the two most popular paths up the Normal Route and the Polish Traverse Route. This is why the Government of Mendoza imposes strict waste control regulations on the Provincial Park in order to carefully maintain the natural state of the park.

The vast majority of visitors to the Aconcagua Provincial Park are native Argentinians but most of these people do not attempt to climb to the summit of their nation's highest peak. The UK was 6th on the list for the most recent season with just under 350 visitors. Unlike the Argentinians, most people came to the park to climb Aconcagua, mostly as part of a pre-formed group who head to the mountain accompanied by full service providers like us.

Almost as many people came to Aconcagua for trekking within the Provincial Park as they did for climbing to the summit. This shows that the area attracts tourists of all types, and not just high altitude mountain climbers and experienced trekkers who are seeking to reach the summit of the highest trekking peak in the world.

By a slim majority, most visitors to the park come to ascend Aconcagua, with short stay trekking over 3 days being the next most common activity within the park. There are many lower level trekking routes throughout the Park and Aconcagua is surrounded by several other 5000m+ peaks which make the whole region very beautiful.
