1989: Hi-Spec
was formed in 1989 by Gary Hill and John Speck. Initially
the two partners provided toolmaking services to the larger
toolmaking companies and gradually built up a work force of
5 people in the first few years.
1993: In 1993
we moved premises from a 5000 square foot unit to a 10,000
square foot unit and by this time the company started to specialise
in high class precision mould tools to a variety of industries.
During the following years we increased turnover on a regular
basis and the staff level rose to 35 skilled toolmakers, with
a reputation as being one of the best teams in their field.
2000: In 2000
we decided to invest in the injection moulding industry. This
started with 6 moulding machines in a factory unit next to
the toolmaking business. We began by supplying the niche markets
with a big emphasis on an individual service that incorporated
toolmaking as an added option.

The injection moulding side of the
company grew quickly and by the end of 2006 the moulding
business had grown to a point where new premises were
essential to meet the needs of our customers. It was
at this time that the moulding division moved to a 20,000
square foot facility in Cannock.
PRESENT DAY - £2.5
million investment:
There have been a lot of changes here at Hi-Spec, and
in order to expand on the reputation we have built up
over the last 20 years, for quality and reliability
in the field of toolmaking
and injection moulding, we
have invested over £2.5 million in new moulding
and ancillary equipment and a purpose built unit.
The new factory is equipped with 17, brand
new state of the art, Negri Bossi moulding machines
ranging from 50 ton to 550 ton. A large selection of
latest ancillary equipment, colour dosers, dehumidifier
dryers, water heaters also now compliment our full range
of machines.
|
To complete the new build, we have moved
our modern toolroom on-site, where our team of highly experienced
toolmakers are able to manufacture complex mould tools or
carry out basic repairs. The toolroom
is a very important asset to our moulding facility. Having
both aspects of the company under one roof provides enormous
customer benefits.
