In general, guys do not like to resemble girls. Names like:
...and anything that is, for the most part, feminine sounding is NOT appreciated. Seriously, men aren't women and even if WE think it's cute--they think it's embarrassing when it's said in public and not in a playful, cute, naive-female way.
Personally, I would find something I could say often and enjoyed calling my partner and then ASK him if he approves of it to make things clear. That way if it's something he feels would be embarrassing then he can let you know and you can find something else to refer to him as.
