Our purpose is to reduce loss of life, from disasters to 1/10 of 2009 levels, via the application of the practical experience and knowledge of Doug Copp and the world's most experienced experts.
Furthermore, our practical knowledge will enable a recovery from disaster to be reduced to 1/3 of the 2009 capabilities at 1/2 the budget.

Our intention is to finally realise the goals of The IDNDR (International Decade of Natural Disaster Reduction) resolution passed by The General Assembly of the United Nations in 1988.

We will accomplish this during the decade of 2010-2020.

Our first and primary goal is to reduce loss of life, during building collapse from the worldwide (2009) death rate of 98% caused by 'duck and cover', to a 90% survival rate. This applies to earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, explosions and all other forms of building collapse.

Read the March 4, magazine article published in 'Business and Economy'; described as, the most influential business publication, in India

Quote/Excerpt: "Techniques like drop, cover and hold-on are passé. “Duck and cover results in a 98% death rate when buildings collapse. The only people who survive are those who do the ‘triangle of life’. This is either intentionally or as a result of panicking, fleeing, being knocked to the floor and somehow finding themselves in a survivable void. If the masses followed the ‘triangle of life’, there would be a major shift from death to survivability, in earthquakes,” says Doug Copp, Professor of Disaster Mitigation at the International Institute of Disaster Reduction Institute."

American Rescue Team International is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization. Organized and duly constituted under the laws of the State of California since 1985. At international disasters we were called the `American Rescue Team' because we were the only Americans saving lives at foreign disasters, the name stuck!
