NHK Just Read Up NISA report: Fukushima Nuclear Reactor, Tried to open the vent to reduce internal pressure build up. But radiation at the spot is too high. Operation had to be cancelled.
RE: Daiichi plant/facility, No.1 Reactor
Tried to release the internal air from the reactor. But the radiation around the vent is too strong. So the operation had to be stopped.
Daiichi plant, No.1 Reactor hasn’t been able to cool down the reactor core. And pressure has been building up inside and that could break the reactor container.
To release the air, from today’s 9 AM (local time) has been attempting to open the valve/vent manually.
But the radiation around that spot is too high.
The personnel in charge of the operation will receive/suffer too much radiation. Thus operation had to be halted. Either during the operation, have to switch personnels frequently. Or have to try with electric/robotic? manipulator to open the vent.
