Victorinox Knives
History of Victorinox
Victorinox - located in Ibach, Central Switzerland - was founded by Karl Elsener in 1884. The name is a combination of his wife's name, Victoria, and the word "inox", meaning "stainless steel".
First delivery of knives to the Swiss Army was in 1891.
The company grew over the following decades and expanded the product range.
In 2005, Victorinox took over the company Wenger. The intention is to strenghten the product "Swiss Army Knife" and to guarantee that the production continues to be solely in Switzerland.
End of 2008, Victorinox started the production of the new Soldier's knife for the Swiss Army.
