Lonely day- System of a down

Such a lonely day
And it’s mine
The most loneliest day in my life

Such a lonely day
Should be banned
It’s a day that I can’t stand

The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life

Such a lonely day
Shouldn’t exist
It’s a day that I’ll never miss

Such a lonely day
And it’s mine
The most loneliest day of my life

And if you go,
I wanna go with you
And if you die,
I wanna die with you
Take your hand and walk away

The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life
The most loneliest day of my life

Such a lonely day
And it’s mine
It’s a day that I’m glad I survived

“JAI SHRI RAM” THE PASSWORD TO KILL

 20051118002604803.jpg

Name: Narendra Dāmodardās Modī

Age: 50 something

Nationality: Indian, Gujarat

Claim to fame: The engineer to 2002’s Gujarat massacre

February 2002, allegedly an angry Muslim mob torched a train which resulted in the killing of 58 innocent Hindu passengers which gave birth to what they call; “the worst Hindu Muslim clash” in the history of India. According to the official statistics; 254 Hindus and 790 Muslims were killed, with 223 more missing. Thousands of cases are still pending in the Indian courts and state inquiry committees which are related to these riots.

Their is nothing new about Hindu Muslim riots; these riots are tactfully created by any one of the two extreme parties to meet their political and social desires. But this incident is quite different from past incidents that involved the clash of the two religions. First of all the tragic scale of the devastation is monstrously huge and it puts a big question mark on the secular claims of the biggest democracy in the world; India.

The question is why I felt the need of bringing up this issue after five years of its occurrence; well for the information of my readers; a series of videotaped confessions have been released which showed Hindu activists acknowledging their roles in the killings and confirming the blatant involvement of the state government. These video footages were shot undercover by a journalist of a New Delhi based magazine ‘Tehelka’. In these videos Hindu activists shamelesly brag about; how the put the Muslims to death and afterwards burned down their bodies. One attacker went on proudly confessing that how he slit opened a pregnant woman stomach.

One name which is common on every assailant mouth is of Gujarat’s Chief Minster Mr. Narendra Modi. Many human rights groups in India and abroad find him and his ruling party BJP guilty of tactfully supporting the Hindu mob against the Muslims. One more shocking revelation was made that proves the state police involvement in the whole incident. ‘Jai Shri Ram’ was the secret code which was given to the Hindu extremists, when any of them was caught by the officials this code use to bail them out and also served as a license to carry out the killings and bombings.

Another statement which is common; is the approval that none of this would have been possible if Narendra Modi was not in charge. One reknown Hindu activist and politician confessed in one of the videos and I quote; “He (Narendra Modi) has given us three days time to do whatever we could. After three days, he asked to stop and everything came to a halt.”

So who is this Narendra Modi? his highness 😛 began his political struggle at young age when he joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), an infamous Hindu militant organization. He then later became a full time time activist and organizer for RSS. He later on became the representative of RSS in BJP. He is praised for maintaining the relation of RSS with BJP on numerous occasions by right wing Hindu leader Lal Krishen Advani.   The revelations made by the extremists with the help of Tehelka are not new for Human rights activists and Muslim leaders. But the chief minister was allowed to rule the state for five years.

Critics and political pundits claim that these videos might have an effect on December’s state election. I think otherwise, because from what we have seen in the past when politicians like Bush and Blair got re-elected for the second time with larger majority despite their failures in Iraq& Afghanistan. People came out, demonstrated against the two leaders but they got votes and were re-elected, how ironic is that.

The efforts made by Tehelka  are worth praising, the made a brave effort to bring out the truth. One can well imagine how difficult it could be to prove a sittign minister guilty, but how good is the truth when the murderers are set free to rule the state affairs. How good is the democracy when the killers of hundreds will be allowed to run for election and even get elected. Modi has previously said the Hindu violence was a spontaneous reaction to the attack on the trains and denied all the allegations.

The Hindu religious activist who has been accused of slitting open a pregnant woman’s stomach said he showed Muslims “what kind of revenge we can take if our people are killed.”  The word viciousness just lost its touch.

Disclaimer: Following are some of the videos which provide evidence to the claims made by the writer of this post Ammar Yasir. This article was not written to scrutinize any religion in particular. I personally apologize if the religious sentiments of any reader are offended. The purpose is to bring up the truth and provide a voice to the innocent souls who lost their lives in this tragic incident.

Make love not war…

haight-hippie.jpg

Once upon a time two young hippies in their late teens were walking aimlessly on the streets of Karachi.

aMms: Dude I want that new film SAW. I heard a lot about it.

Sims: oh that one, you can borrow the dvd…it’s an interesting film. Do you know the real killer was just lying on the floor through out the movie, pretending to be the dead guy. Hehe.

aMms: you know what you just did?

Sims: umm?

aMms: this is 300th time you told me the ending of a film. Your such an a-hole do you know that 😛

Sims: sorry dude 🙂 cant help it..

Sims: dude! Nice hair band.

aMms: yeah I borrowed it from my younger sis. The rubber band use to look so cheap on my pony tail 😛

Sims: it hurts too

aMms: tell me about it

The two young hippies continued to talk stupid, in the mean while a blue hi-roof passed them and stopped, both of them halted in their feet, expecting a potential mobile snatching incident to take place. The skull of a young boy came out of the window, he examined the two from head to toe and then exclaimed to the ladies in the car;

“No baji (sister) the other one is a guy as well 😛 !!”

The two ladies giggled and asked the driver to move on, the car then disappeared on the road….

Simz: ‘what exactly just happened??’

aMms voiced in a deep shock : ‘we just got served, I guess’

Sims: ‘are we supposed to take this incident to grave ?’

aMms: ‘I dunno about that but I am having a hair cut’

Sims: ‘Me too 😛 ’

The General that can be criticized by Ahsan Zawar

musharraf.jpg

Well I am one of the biggest haters of army in politics whether it’s my homeland or some other country. The concept of army capturing land and wealth from the other has never really impressed me. As a kid I was made to believe by my family that it is the safest and the best career in Pakistan. To their utter disappointment I never tried for the armed forces.

Now with so much of media exposure, everyone seems to be talking about politics everywhere. I like the line written on a wall in some old saddar’s restaurant “Siyasi Guftago say parhaiz kijiye” (Please do not discuss politics). This line took me to the past and I just look around for the things that are with us and that we take for granted. When someone oppresses and deliberately keeps our rights away from us, we do complain but when someone gives us our due right, we not only take it but we make huge victorious comment of how we achieved it though in reality we never make a single and honest attempt to struggle for it. So in short we complain and debate even more after getting our due right than we used to do when it wasn’t with us.

It is tough to defend someone who has done something for you especially when the trend is just opposite (in this case Criticizing Musharraf is more in fashion these days). The Government Muslim League has done little to support the man and he is often blamed of supporting them. President no matter how powerful we consider him in our society will still be an ordinary human. He can’t handle everything so he shouldn’t be blamed for everything. People like Wasi Zafar and Sher Afghan were born like that. Whatever they do is unjustifiably wrong to blame it on someone else. For that case I don’t even blame their mothers because they were made like that by God.

The media and press were pushed to the wall by former democrats and dictators. The newspapers were scrutinized and the news on PTV, we all remembers when they used to skip the firing and bombing incidents in Karachi. I researched on this about how many journalists actually tried starting a movement for the liberation of media or for that matter do their bit for educating people. The answer to my utter shock was not sweet. They have been cases where the journalists and papers have tried being supporters of a particular block and did what everyone in our society do at best. Sit, relax and count the money.

For that case I divide the two eras as pre and post Musharraf. How much an ordinary man knew about the politics and things around him in the pre era? Yes we used to talk about politics and issues but we used to make sure that this does not go out of our rooms. The liberation of media to me is the biggest gift to us by the dictator no matter how much you hate him. We certainly started feeling more responsible and educated. The door was open for a free debate for the first time in our life. The constitutions and the laws started being discussed on TV. I conclude this on that, today the politician that thinks that the people are stupid and uneducated is himself the most stupid person around. I thank the dictator for giving us our due right, the right to know and the right to speak.

The daughter of the East, in the line of Fire

bb.JPEG

Pakistan once again is the centre of the international interest for another political reason. And this time the reason is; the return of the Mummy. Yes I am talking about the mother of Pakistan Peoples Party and the daughter of the east Ms.Benazir Bhutto. Now you can go on and deny me when I say; there are few popular names run the political game in each country. Whether its India (who call themselves the biggest democratic country in the whole world), USA (who is a self appointed democracy sheriff) or Pakistan (who hardly saw glimpses of what they call a democratic system). Voters and masses in these countries still follow Bhutto, Gandhi (Nehru family) and Kennedy.

Congress party; the oldest political party in subcontinent is run by an Italian woman. Can’t they find a single leader in the population of 100 curores to lead them? I am sure the poor lady never or wanted to be in the situation she is now but what choice did she had. She has to pass the transaction period when either her son or daughter will take over the party. But the point is, that parties start their political struggle in the name of socialism, religion, freedom etc but after some time its realm that lead these so called democratic entities. They don’t even have a democratic process within their own party.

Having said that, I don’t want to take any credit from Ms. Bhutto, she leaded her party for 28 years. Been to jail, was whipped, face the tragic death of his father and untimely deaths of her younger brothers. If you look into her married life, half of that life Asif Zardari was behind bars for allegations that the establishment failed to prove. Even now when I am writing this post home town Karachi an announced national holiday millions of the Jiyaley (the name given to the PPP’s workers) are on the streets chanting her name and covered with red, black and green. The rest of the billions are gathered around the idiot box and watching her coming down from the airplane.

Without any shadow of doubt in Benazir’s popularity her sir name plays an important part. This fact is evident from the billboards hanging on Sharah-e-Faisal where Zulfi Bhutto’s picture is as prominent as his daughter’s.

bhu0-002.jpg

But something is missing. The question is what!? The international and national media is here, the political workers are here but something is missing. She got Musharraf’s support, US support, ex nemesis MQM is also supporting them by keeping their mouths shut. So what is left? What was their when Imam Khoemeni returned or Zulifiqar Ali Bhutto revolutionized the Pakistani society in the late 60’s; Youth!!

Young men and women of any society not only comprise the majority of the population but also represents where the country is heading. Why the youth of Pakistan prefer staying home then coming on the streets to participate in the process which might help their country to change its course. Lack of leadership is the answer, we the Pakistani youth don’t lack patriotism or humanitarian germs. We all have seen the youth of Pakistan leading the aid process when earth quake hit the northern areas. Their efforts were undoubtedly commendable. Even now in traffic jams when there is no sign of hope or traffic sergeant. Young volunteers jumps in and make the flow possible.

The problem with today’s leadership is that either they don’t represent us or they fail to address our basic issues. Joblessness, corruption in the education department, you can’t get the job you deserve without a source or reference. The education board is one of the most corrupted departments in the country. Higher education is not only unaffordable for the middle and the lower middle class but the quality is also declining with time. There is no sense of security; every young graduate would prefer going abroad for further education and earning some decent living.

But I am still optimistic about our future and the role of our youth. Even now when given a chance, a cause worthy enough to fight for, a movement worthy enough to die for, a leader worthy enough to follow; you will again observe the youth of Pakistan leading and playing their vital role.

” We all have an unknown ability, which will probably remain unknown forever. And yet that ability can become our ally. Since it’s not possible to measure that ability or give it an economic value, it’s never taken seriously, but Im speaking here to other human beings and I’m sure you understand what I mean, at least in theory.”

Thanks, but no thanks

3_12_2002_mma-main.jpg

Akram Khan Durrani, NWFP’s Chief Minister has finally decided to dissolve his Government. I think he deserves a good round of applause or perhaps a standing ovation. This move will really stop the General from taking oath. I am sure he must be really petrified on this attack, he never saw it coming 😛

For the past 60 years the so called religious parties criticized and destabilized every elected Pakistani Government with the aid of agencies and military establishment. In comparison to their contemporaries, they posed and pretended themselves to be the most righteous and patriotic, despite their non concealable history; where they preferred Gandhi’s and Nehru’s Congress on Jinnah’s & Iqbal’s Muslim league.

Regardless of their negative propagandas and million marches nobody trusted them even with their votes. Then 9/11 incident took place and these religious parties hit what you call a jack pot and the hatred for USA became their ticket to Lala land. Now this time they had all the opportunity to turn this part of the land a welfare state. They had a chance to make NWFP an example to follow. But what did they do? Nothing. How can they when the only thing that they ever did was mud slugging and besides that they are as dump as a box of rocks.

If you compare the two parties that helped Musharraf more then his worthless and good for nothing Q league ie the self proclaimed liberals MQM and right wing MMA. Then MMA did more favors to the Gen. in uniform in comparison. Take 17th Amendment which helped him to secure his seat for the second time, or when Fazal broke ARD and made a phonier version aka APDM and last but not the least when the apposition parties decided to weaken the credibility of the Presidential elections Maulana Sahib very deceitfully and deviously betrayed the apposition.

I don’t want to be rude here but I think these mullahs are the worst kind of leadership a country can ever have. A bad influence to the young generation of the society, I don’t remember for once that they ever did a favor to the country. They encourage us to go on Jihad and give our lives for Islam. But when their very own life is in danger some cross dresses, some get themselves conveniently arrested in their parliament lodges and some run away and go for UMRA

One day with TPS

I recently wrote something for The Pakistani Spectator; a nation wide blog, where writers and professionals form different parts of the country add their posts. TPS has a dedicated team of bloggers that work day in and out to make TPS the big success that it has become now. Anyways, Ghazala Khan from TPS who actually published my politically charged article 😛 completely surprised me with her new offer. She told me that they are taking interviews of the popular Pakistani bloggers and it would be nice if I share my blogging experience with them.

I wanted to tell her that only 10 people read my blog and out of them 5 are kind enough to comment on my posts 😛 But what the hell I gave it a shot!

  • You can catch my interview here. and I know how horrible I look in that picture 😛 I dont look this scary in real 😛 😀 trust me!! and yes I know in most of my answers I sounded really boring and patriotic but what the hell you have to put up with it.

Thank you TPS and Ghazala Khan for the opportunity 🙂

National Tragedy

Note: This post was also published in TPS.

carimusharraf.gif
The other day when I stopped my car on the signal I questioned myself;

What the hell I am doing?

Waiting for the green light; the voice in my head told me.

‘But why?’ I asked myself again.

Because it’s the rule! You have to stop on the red light, wait on the orange and move on when the green signal shows up. That’s the rule! But why am I following rules especially in the country where I live in. Why should I wait for the green light to show up, why should I wait in the queue for the bills, why should I follow any rules that are prescribed in the rule book at all?

Because you are a common man with little or no value and powers.

In the real world might is ultimately right. The rich and powerful get away with everything. Rules are there to create a fence between classes. So that when a VIP wants to move from one place to another in the busy traffic of Karachi city people like me should wait for their green signal under the scorching heat of the sun.

2007 is supposedly an election year for the country. But don’t we know the results? Gen. Musharraf will be the President in uniform. Ms. Bhutto probably the Prime Minister and the rest of the opportunists who call themselves politicians will get their share of the deal. Everything will be carried out right in front of the world and in the name of the national interest. I don’t know which nation they are referring to because this nation had never been involved in the decision making process and there are minute chances of this extra ordinary thing to take place in the near future. So in the end I will be fined for breaking the signal and the General will get away with breaking the constitution.

How ya doing ?! ;)

joey-721633.jpg

How ya doing?! 😉

Anyone who watches Friends must be a big fan of Joey and would be quite familiar with this pick up line. Its Joey’s favorite and as a matter of fact his only pick up line. And you know the best part it always works, almost 95% of the time. But it needs somebody like Joey to pull it off. Just imagine if Maulana Fazal Ur Rehman tries this line on any hottie. The consequences would be so darn funny.

So it’s not the pickup line itself which has all the magic. It’s the guy who utters those lines. Eh? But have you ever wondered why only men feel the need of using a pickup line. I never heard a woman complaining about how difficult is to pick man. They always grumble about how to choose the right guy. In fact how to get Mr. right? That proves the fact that getting a man has never been an issue for post world war women. It’s a guy headache. We need pickup lines, months of homework and money to get the things done. Unlike women they just have to be “themselves”.

You know guys what is our biggest problem when it comes to picking up women or pickup lines in particular. We go with the clichés, the same old formula’s and lines. Every guy in his life and I really mean when I say this that every guy in his life for once, (when ever) went up to a girl. The first words that he uttered were; ‘would you like to be my friend’ and for Pakistani guys it would be ‘Would you like to have friendship with me!’ (or something similar)how stupid is that 😛 Just imagine how it sounds to a girl who never met or seen you in her entire life is enforced to have “Friendship with you!”. Guys at my school, high school, university committed the same mistake again and again i.e. telling the girl that they wanted to have friendship with her or something equally stoopid . But the message was the same. Few months ago a friend did the most stupid thing on the face of the earth. He went up to a girl and…

Stupid Friend: Excuse me!

Poor Girl: Yes?!

SF: I would like to tell you something in private (as she was with her gang )

PG: No! Just tell me what do you want? (she snapped)

SF who was already confused lost what he called his mind and uttered: You know what a young man wants with a girl 🙂

PG: WTF? @#$%@#$^$%&%^&$#%#$%$^$%&%^&^&%^&%$^56&%^&%^&

She went on and on for five minutes and my stupid friend was humiliated more then the Pakistani team when they lost to Ireland in WC2007.

yheavenfellcolor.gif

But these kinds of guys are better then the ones who try other ways to get up to a girl. The second kind are real jerks and use means like whistling, hooting, passing some really dim-witted and corney remarks and proudly believe that they are doing some real big favor to the world. I asked one jerk that what the f#$% he was thinking when he passed a nasty remark on that “Gurl”. His reply was;

Jerk: Keeping it real man 😀

Yes 😛 kepping it real stupid!

You know when I hit teenage Shahrukh Khan was my role model. Not Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Gandhi or Dr. Abdul Qadeer but Shahrukh Khan. Why? Because he was so damn good with women (in the movies) that he acted. A real charmer, like they have George Clooney in Hollywood. Not Salman Khan because all he ever did to charm women was stripping. Now we can’t do that in the real world. For instance if I met some hottie at Pizza Hut I wont take shirt off to impress her. But he can 😛 so the guy that we could (kind of) relate to is Sharukh Khan. Skinny, dark, short but damn is he awesome with women in all the movies.

For example;

1) In Dil wale; Kajol was a serious and obedient daughter that was engaged to a desi guy in India and was about to marry her. But our good old SRK charmed her and won her after some beating. Imagine doing that in the real world 😛

2) SRK again in Kuch Kuch hota hai, a single dad dumbed Kajol for Rani before his own marriage was able to lure her on the day when she was getting married. Poor Salman was so depressed that he forgot to take his shirt off to balance things out. Imagine pulling off what SRK did, in the real world 😛

3) Madhuri in Dil to Pagal Hai was getting married to her best friend Akshay but SRK like always comes form nowhere and the ending was so predictable. Can you do it? 😛

I think they should tell the stupid male audience when the film ends that “Don’t you freaking try this at home :P” like they tell you in WWE. So don’t try the SRK ways at home, school, college, workplace, streets etc. If SRK was this good in the real life he would not have been married to the same woman for 10 or more years 😛 hence proved these things dont work in the real world.

So what did we learn today? We learned that picking up women is one of the most difficult tasks on the planet. So if you accidentally or luckily have a lady in your life, then try to stick onto her because you wont like to go on and start from the very beginning, again 😛 and the single fellas out there when you are flirtng don’t come straight to the point and don’t be stooopid enough to tell the truth. She don’t like to hear what you want, she likes to hear, what she likes to hear 🙂

The law of the jungle – Zehra Nigah

riot372.jpg

I have heard
There is a law of the jungle

I have heard when the lion has eaten his fill
He never attacks
He goes to lie under dense shady trees
And when the rough gusts
Shake branches of trees
The maynah leaving her own young
Covers the frail crow’s eggs
With her protective wings

I have heard
When any bird-young falls out of the nest
The entire jungle wakes to rescue

I have heard
When the weaver bird’s nest
Reflects on the lake
The silvery fishes adopt it as neighbour
And if a rough storm breaks the foot-bridge
Then on a wooden plank
Squirrel, snake, goat and cheetah walk in a file

I have heard
There is a law of the jungle
O God, All Powerful, All Seeing, All Wise,
In this city of mine
Proclaim a law, even
The law of the jungle
