Types of Aerial Photos







Regular Oblique from an Airplane
  • Shot from 1,000' to 5,000' above the ground
  • Shot at a 30 to 60 degree angle from an open window of the airplane
  • This is a good way to show areas from 20 acres up to 6 square miles
  • Limitations - Not allowed within 5 miles of major airports while they are using runways toward the site


Regular Oblique | High Oblique | Low Oblique | Vertical | Mapping





High Oblique from an Airplane
  • Shot from 8,000' to 13,000' above the ground
  • Shot at a 30 to 60 degree angle from an open window of the airplane
  • This is a good way to show areas from 2 to 20 square miles




Regular Oblique | High Oblique | Low Oblique | Vertical | Mapping





Low Oblique from a Helicopter
  • Shot from 300' to 1,000' above the ground
  • Shot at a 5 to 30 degree angle through the open door of the helicopter
  • This is a good way to show the face of a building without showing too much roof.
  • This makes the prettiest result.

Vertical
  • Shot straight down from a hole in the belly of the airplane from the appropriate altitude
  • This is a good way to show a 1/2 square to an area 2 miles by 3 miles.
