Minister of Health Sameh Farid announced today that at least 365 protesters died during the revolution which began 25 January.

Farid says he expects that number to rise when health offices around the country, and families who buried their dead without burial permits, due to the chaos that took hold in the country, file reports.

Farid added that to date there were 5500 injuries, 2349 of whom are in the ministry’s hospitals. He said 600 more were in university hospitals, and of those 123 are still being treated for their injuries while the remainder went home.

The total number of injuries between 2 February to 11 February, the day Mubarak stepped down, was only 34.

Minister Farid described the role played by the Egyptian Ambulance Authority as “heroic,” adding that the ministry had managed to find within 48 hours two ambulance cars that were stolen.

While some have claimed that the ambulance cars were used to transfer thugs and weapons to attack protesters, Farid denied the claims.
