Alyn Foundry

Shown here are two "SLIGHTLY ?" modified Alyn engines built by John Murray.

John has built his scale Gardner to be exactly like his full size engine, even down to things like the lubricator and pad under the governor assembly.
This is Johns half-scale Robinson V-Type, an engine slightly larger than the X-Type that we market. It also employs the later and more standard gear train, along with the famous Robinson patent pendulum governor. John "modified" our castings to achieve this superb model.
This is the finished Gardner engine from the John Murray "stable". It just shows what patience and a keen eye can achieve!! And it runs just as well as it looks using the low pressure gas ring for the hot tube ignition, well done John.
Yet another engine built by John Murray, this is our half scale Robinson Patent No4 hot air engine with regenerative displacer.
John Murray again!!! This time one of our Robinson "X" types with the later patented gear train. Quite a number of this style of engine still survive in preservation.
Here is a fine example of what can be done with the RLE kit. This one, number 138 built by Albert Morris of Leicester, now drives a water pump of his own construction.
Engine number 121 built by Harry Watts also of Leicester, is there something in the water ? Has at this time built the finest RLE, in my opinion, to date. Any takers ???
This is David Allens superb Gardner and it does run as well as it looks, I've seen it. Keep up the good work Dave.
Here is a fine engine built by John Kipling and yes it is exactly as the 1894 patent epicyclic gear train was intended to be used.
