Accurate Perforating

Yesterday, we celebrated the retirement of one of our long-time employees, Allan Cohen. Allan started at Accurate Perforating in 1969, when he was about 17 years old. When he first started, things looked a lot different—none of the presses were run by computers like they are today. Allan and others would have to walk up to each press, gather information, write things down, and talk to the operators about how the press ran that day. Tooling was more of an art than science at that point but integral to the whole operation. Throughout his tenure at Accurate, Allan's dedication was unwavering. He immersed himself in almost every facet of the company, spending significant periods (20+ years) running the secondary department and managing several perforating presses on the floor. While many perforating companies have come and gone, Accurate has remained steadfast and at the forefront of the few remaining companies in the country, primarily because of individuals like Allan who have played a pivotal role in shaping our company and contributing to its success. 🎖 One of Allan's most significant achievements was his service to our country. As a proud Vietnam War Veteran in the U.S. Army, Allan was a member of the 7th Battalion, 11th Field Artillery. His dedication and bravery earned the Battalion a Valorous Unit Award for Tây Ninh Province. It’s an honor to pay tribute to him again in the very same room we did when we welcomed him back home from the war. Now that Allan is officially retired, he plans to spend more time with his wife and best friend, Marsha, and travel the country to visit his children and grandchildren. He also plans to enjoy his reunions with the 7th Battalion. Even when you retire from Accurate, the door never truly closes, and we expect to see Allan around from time to time, especially on his favorite day - Bagel Day. Larry Cohen, Owner and Chairman of the Board at Accurate, said it best: "He's been a friend, a fabulous, reliable, and trustworthy employee. He was always here and always present. His loyalty cannot be challenged. There isn't anything Allan wouldn't do for you, and there is nothing that Allan hasn't done that has not made us and the company proud of him." ✨ Allan, we will miss you, your stories, and all the jokes you told as you came for your morning coffee. In recognition of World Wish Day, the founding anniversary of Make-A-Wish America, we’d like to show our support to one of our own, Cristal Carr and her daughter whose wish to go to Walt Disney World will be granted soon. Cristal handles our social media platforms for Accurate Perforating, Accurate Metal Fabricating, and SelectSpace Partitions as well as any graphic design and website work we need. She also creates the mockups and laser cut files for SelectSpace’s customer’s logo panels. Cristal’s daughter Eden was diagnosed at 10 months old with a hepatic arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and portal hypertension. It was during one of her very long stays at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago that one of her favorite nurses suggested getting in touch with Make-A-Wish, knowing from experience how impactful a wish for Eden would be. We’re so excited for Eden and her family to have this wish of a lifetime and to be able to make lasting memories that will help overcome the hardships that Eden has had to endure. #worldwishday #community #supportingeachother

Infill panels, railings, and partitions made with our perforated metal were essential parts in developing the Cermak McCormick Place Station here in Chicago. The perforated metal provided the ventilation, natural lighting, and safety needed for this train station while still providing an aesthetically pleasing structure in a business professional area. There are many benefits to powder coating metal for products and construction. Powder coating provides a layer of protective coating that can help the material last up to 20 years. It’s resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and electricity. It’s also impact resistant and vibration deadening. For designers, it’s an easy way to achieve accent colors and textures. But one of the things we like the most about powder coating is that it’s environmentally friendly. The powder overspray is continually retrieved and reused so it doesn’t go to waste. When we’re done with a powder color and ready to change it for the next project, all the unused powder is reclaimed in our system for later use. Powder coating also doesn’t require any solvents or primers to use, therefore there are no volatile organic compounds involved. In honor of International Children’s Book Day we chose to hold a company-wide book drive to support reading among the youth. Between Accurate Perforating and Accurate Metal Fabricating, we collected a total of 576 books! 👏 We’re excited to gift the new books to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Lurie Children’s Hospital is a non-profit hospital that relies on community funding to be able to not only provide life-saving healthcare by world-class doctors and nurses, but to also be able to support their patients by providing comforting gifts and activities. We’re proud to be able to support their patients and give them some comfort during a hard time.
