IPHA Mourns the Loss of Board of Trustee Member Joseph Klutsch

Honoring the Legacy of Joe Klutsch

It is with deep sorrow that IPHA shares the passing of Joe Klutsch, a titan in the hunting community and a highly active and engaged Vice President and Board of Trustees member of the International Professional Hunters’ Association (IPHA). Joe’s journey from the rural landscapes of Colorado to the untamed wilderness of Alaska shaped him into a guiding force in our industry.

Born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Joe’s upbringing instilled in him a profound love for the outdoors. His passion for hunting and conservation led him to Alaska, where he embarked on a remarkable career that spanned over four decades. From guiding sport fishermen in King Salmon to earning accolades for his excellence in guiding, Joe Klutsch’s name became synonymous with professionalism, integrity, and dedication.

As a founding cornerstone of the Alaska Professional Hunters Association, Joe Klutsch played a pivotal role in shaping the hunting industry. His tireless advocacy for ethical hunting practices and wildlife conservation earned him the respect of his peers and the admiration of hunters worldwide.

“I had the privilege of knowing Joe since the late 1990s,” said Rob Kern, President of the International Professional Hunters Association. “He was not just a colleague but a dear friend. Joe’s passing leaves a profound void in our community, but his legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.”

Joe Klutsch’s impact extended beyond the hunting grounds. His involvement in legislative processes and advisory committees showcased his commitment to safeguarding Alaska’s wildlife resources for future generations. His laughter, knowledge, and work ethic will be sorely missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

The IPHA pledges to honor Joe Klutsch’s memory by upholding the values he held dear. Let us continue his legacy by promoting responsible hunting practices and conservation efforts, ensuring that the wilderness he cherished remains pristine for years to come.

Please join me in extending our deepest sympathies to Joe’s family and loved ones. May they find solace in the memories of a remarkable man whose passion for the outdoors touched countless lives.
