About me

A warm, insightful and experienced therapist I provide a non-judgemental, safe and supportive place for you to talk and be heard. I help clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, low self-confidence, depression, addiction, family issues, bereavement, relationship issues and sexuality.

There are times when life feels overwhelming and you may feel unsure how to cope. Our sessions will give you space to explore what you can do to get through these times. I'll support you to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. We will talk about the issues that are preventing you from living the life you want.

Sessions will help you to disentangle yourself from things that are not serving you well. We'll clarify what you would like to develop and grow in your life and discuss strategies that will support you to make and maintain changes you would like.

We'll spend time exploring your inner dialogues and thinking patterns. As part of this process the role your inner critic plays in how you experience yourself and others will become clearer. Reflecting on the ways you think will help you to understand yourself more fully. New ways of being, thinking and doing will open up enabling you to manage your life and your mind better.

Your life experiences may be effecting how you feel and experience your life now. Exploring and making sense of your past can heal emotional wounds and help you to live your present life as fully and steadily as possible.

Being able to explore feelings of anger, fear and sadness with a nurturing person can be transformative. I see counselling as a creative, collaborative and holistic process. Together we'll work through what's going on for you and support you to gain new insights, increase your self-awarenesses and develop strategies that improve your well-being at a pace that works for you.

Exploring the many layers of who we are can be challenging, enlightening and reassuring. I hope you would find the work we do together empowering, helping you to create and maintain the life you want with clarity and confidence.

Things we might talk about in sessions........

Anger; boundaries; your relationship to strength and vulnerability; how you relate to yourself and others; ways to accept what you can't change and change what you can; how to manage difficult relationships; what triggers you; traumatic experiences; transitions; limiting beliefs, self critical and negative thought patterns; addictions; the relationship between your body and mind; what motivates, inspires and fulfils you; trust and self belief; listening to your intuition; how to feel more secure, positive, resilient and grounded.

I offer short and longer term counselling and psychotherapy. Weekly or fortnightly sessions are available. Feel free to contact me by phone or email for an initial conversation. I aim to return all calls and emails within 48 hours.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
