Since 1976

Since 1976 Dub Vendor Records has had a peerless reputation as the place for reggae fans to obtain their favourite sounds. John MacGillivray and Chris Lane established a stall in Clapham Junction market followed by a short lived shop in Peckham. A break in caused that shop to close and Chris left the business. The market stall continued and developed into a mail order department and two shops in Ladbroke Grove and Clapham Junction. Dub Vendor also began releasing reggae music initially on the Dub Vendor label and then back in tandem with Chris Lane releasing their own productions on the Fashion label, which quickly became one of the most successful UK based reggae labels.

Throughout the '80's and '90's and on into the new millennium, Dub Vendor became the go to destination of reggae music lovers the world over. But the sharp decline in the production and manufacture of reggae music in Jamaica meant that Dub Vendor closed both physical stores and developed the mail order operation into a thriving online business.

Over the last few years we have constantly strived to bring our customers the same great service and cutting edge selection of great new reggae music and classic revives.  We have made innovative use of social media, particularly on Instagram where we have established a reputation with our powerful video presentations featuring artists, producers, staff members and characters from the world of reggae music, bringing the best of the music to hundreds of new customers around the world.

We have now updated www.mailorder@dubvendor.co.uk with our new site design offering an unbeatable selection from all corners of the reggae world and catering to all tastes. Dub Vendor online is proud to deliver a fast, reliable, and friendly service to its customers worldwide. We are constantly updating our social channels to showcase the latest releases and reissues, continuing to bring you the Dub Vendor record shop experience virtually. The current team of John, Louise, Papa Face, Dee Dee and Lyle hope that the launch of our new website, combined with our social media presence will improve the way we present our stock making it easier for you to find what you want and discover some tunes you will need.
