About Greyfriars

Established in 2001, Greyfriars is a registered veterinary practice taking veterinary rehabilitation and hydrotherapy referrals. We provide physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, pain management, laser therapy and ultrasound treatments.

Many of the UK’s leading orthopaedic and neurology veterinary specialists refer to Greyfriars. We are passionate about rehabilitation and our focus is on the best possible outcome and quality of life for your pet. Our facilities are amongst the most comprehensive in the UK – including veterinary and physiotherapy consultation and treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor areas for rehabilitation, a large 5 metre by 10 metre heated swimming pool, complete with swim jets and resting/rehabilitation platforms, and a water treadmill.

Our services

Physiotherapy

Animals can’t tell us where their pain is, or if they have injured themselves, and they are often good at hiding their discomfort. ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapists use a detailed assessment to tailor treatments to each animal's condition. Any patient, from ageing pets to elite canine athletes can benefit from appropriate physiotherapy treatment.

Hydrotherapy

Greyfriars has a hydrotherapy pool and water treadmill – which allows us the flexibility to choose the most suitable hydrotherapy treatment for our patients. The hydrotherapy team is overseen by our Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioners and ACPAT Chartered Physiotherapists.
We also offer fitness and learn to swim sessions.

Pain management

Chronic pain can be a challenge to manage and often requires more than one approach. At Greyfriars our primary goal is to improve quality of life for our patients whether they are younger patients requiring long term management, patients recovering from orthopaedic or spinal disease or patients who may be struggling with mobility. Treatment plans may include advice, medication, acupuncture, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Training

Greyfriars is one of the leading veterinary practices in the UK for veterinary rehabilitation and hydrotherapy referrals. So our students have unrivalled opportunities to work with our veterinary rehabilitation team. Together with the awarding organisation OCN London we have developed a suite of hydrotherapy qualifications designed to raise the industry standards.

Fantastic support starting with Tanya. We have seen Susanna twice with our dog (Ollie). She has been gentle and compassionate with Ollie, quickly figuring out what is going on. She spent time explaining to us what was happening, with a suggested plan of action. We couldn't of asked for better care for Ollie.

I'd like to say a huge thanks to all the team and particularly Penny who managed to make the very timid dog Halia was when she first came to Greyfriars, into the happy girl who loved her swimming and her cuddles. We have had such a good experience at Greyfriars with a very supportive team who has understood Hali's changing needs. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Greyfriars.

Superb service and knowledge - a noticeable difference in Rosie very quickly. They’re gentle and understanding and never force the dogs into the pool, working more holistically.
