WATCH-OVER

WATCH-OVER started in January 2006. It is a specific targeted project co-funded by the European Commission Information Society Technologies in the strategic objective "eSafety Co-operative Systems for Road Transport".

The development of eSafety Co-operative Systems for Road Transport has been growing significantly in recent years. Through the use of wireless communication systems, these systems are designed to help improve safety on roads and highways by assisting drivers in avoiding potential hazards and enabling emergency response teams to quickly respond if needed. The underlying technology behind these systems is based on Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications. V2V enables vehicles to communicate with each other, exchanging information such as position, speed, direction, and acceleration data. This information can then be used by other vehicles to detect potentially hazardous situations before they arise and take appropriate action. Meanwhile, V2I is a more static form of communication which allows vehicles to exchange information with roadside infrastructure such as traffic signals or road signs.

In terms of sports betting, eSafety Co-operative Systems can be used to ensure fairness in the process. With the use of secure digital identity authentication processes combined with biometric data scans, sports bettors can verify their identity when placing bets online or at physical locations while also ensuring that any money being wagered is coming from legitimate sources. Additionally, third parties can be introduced into the process for further fraud/crime prevention measures such as providing real time monitoring services for suspicious transactions or preventing underage gambling from taking place.

The project ended successfully in December 2008.
