Where North Arran’s mountains meet the Kilbrannan Sound, and red deer roam, golden eagles soar and red squirrels forage.
Lochranza Caravan and Campsite is situated at the south end of the friendly village of Lochranza on the beautiful Isle of Arran's wild north-west coast – one of Scotland's National Scenic Areas and a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation. Our campsite is family-run and offers traditional camping for people who want to go back to basics and relax in a tranquil setting. The campsite occupies two acres of flat grassland between a burn, Chalmadale Waters, and Lochranza Golf Course. There are level pitches for tents and campervans of all shapes and sizes, as well as six motorhome or caravan pitches on gravel hard standings. Electric hookups are available for most pitches. We also have five heated and insulated wooden camping pods.
We are proud to hold the Green Tourism Gold Award, which recognizes our commitment to reducing the impact of our site on Arran’s precious biodiversity. Among others, we have charging points for e-cars.
Lochranza Campsite is half an hour from the Arran island hub of Brodick, nestled in a tranquil location at the head of the valley, between glens Easan and Chalmadale. The hills are roamed by hill sheep and red deer, and nearby you might also spot red squirrels, harbour seals, golden eagles and otters – the full complement of Scotland’s Big Five. It’s a great striking out point for iconic walks, including Fairy Dell (4 miles), which takes in Hutton’s Unconformity, where 18th-century geologist James Hutton proved that the world was much older than thought at the time. Across the road is the Lochranza Distillery, home of the Arran Single Malt, and we are a short drive from Lochranza pier, where you can take the CalMac ferry from Lochranza to Claonaig on the Kintyre peninsula for a day trip or to set off on an island hopping adventure. For one of Arran’s best sandy beaches, it’s a 10-minute drive to Sannox, where spiky mountains plunge into a cuticle-shaped bay.
Beautifully rural, Lochranza Golf Course spreads across the tree-studded stretch of land beside the campsite, between the mouths of glens Easan and Chalmadale and the pebbly coast. An 11-hole, par 3 pitch and putt course, it is arranged around Chalmadale Burn and is suitable for all abilities, including families. It has interesting features, including ponds, bridges and even its own standing stone, and is freely roamed by red deer (and sometimes cheeky hill sheep), offering an informal golf experience for anyone who likes to be in the Scottish outdoors. Clubs and putters are included in the fee, and booking is not required. Passes can be purchased at the campsite reception. We accept the Arran Golf Pass.
Welcome back to Lochranza! Just in time for Easter, with the gorse glowing gold and lambs starting to bounce in the hills, Lochranza Caravan and Campsite is opening its gates for the new season. If you’re staying with us this Easter weekend, here are a few suggestions of things to do – whatever the weather.
Lochranza Caravan and Campsite is delighted to have been named in the Top 10 campsites in Scotland by Camping Scotland. Camping Scotland is a platform designed to help you find the perfect campsite for your holiday, with a hand-picked selection of around 200 sites in Scotland.
Lochranza Golf, adjacent to the campsite, is a family-friendly pitch and putt course that also provides a challenge for seasoned golfers in a spectacular natural setting. Here, Lochranza greenkeeper Jeff tells us what's new on the course this year and why it provides a complete golfing experience.
Our five wooden camping pods were built by Lune Valley Pods. They are intended to be wooden tents. They are light and airy with glass doors at the front, a window at the back and are high enough to stand up in. Each pod is well-insulated and has electric lights, electric sockets and a heater. They have door curtains and window blinds.
Booking a pod saves you the bother of transporting a tent, erecting it, taking it down and drying it when you get home. They are a cosy and weather-proof alternative to tent camping.
Please note that dogs are not allowed in the pods.
Please be aware that smoking is not permitted inside the pods.
Our two two-person pods (Alder and Hazel) are suitable for up to two adults and a child, depending on your requirements. These pods have an internal floor size of 2m x 2.2m. The fee for a two-person pod is £35 a night. Full payment is required at the time of booking.
Rowan is suitable for a couple or a family with an internal floor size of 3m x 2.3m. It has two short benches for seating which convert into a double bed with a mattress (not 2 single beds). In addition, there is space for two children to sleep on the floor. It has a cupboard for storage. The fee for this pod is £45 per night. Full payment is required at the time of booking.
Birch is also a family pod with an internal floor size of 3.4m x 2.2m. It has two benches for seating which convert into a large double bed with a mattress or can be used as 2 single beds. In addition, there is space for two children to sleep on the floor. It has a cupboard for storage. The fee for this pod is £45 per night. Full payment is required at the time of booking.
Aspen our newest pod is very similar to Birch. £45 a night.
The pods can be locked. If you wish to have a key we may ask for a £10 deposit which you get back when you hand in the key at the end of your stay. If you have a car it can be parked fairly close to the pod.
If you have booked a holiday in a pod, you will need to bring your own camping gear except for the tent, including camping mats, sleeping bags and pillows. Camping stoves must not be taken inside the pods. A wooden palette outside is provided for standing camping stoves on. Each pod also has a picnic table outside.
Please arrive after 2 pm and before 8 pm on your date of arrival, and leave before 12 noon on your date of departure.

We hope that you have a very happy holiday at Lochranza Campsite which you remember for all the right reasons. Please tell us if you have a problem and we will do our best to deal with it straightaway.
We politely ask all our guests to cooperate with the following points:
• Please respect the peacefulness of Lochranza. We ask that you do not play recorded music and that you keep conversation hushed between 11pm and 8am
• Please be aware that the washrooms are closed for cleaning 12- 1 pm daily
• Please arrive after 2 pm and vacate your pitch by 12 noon
• Please leave your vehicle in the car park outside if you return late at night. If you have to leave early in the morning, please be considerate to other campers when starting your engine and closing vehicle doors
• Please use stones underneath your barbecues so that you don’t burn the grass and return the stones to where they came from after use
• To preserve the peace and quiet for other campers no ball games on site
• Please help us to REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE rubbish. Glass, tin, plastic and paper can all go in the blue bin
• Do watch out for the rubbish bag raiders. The main culprits are seagulls and badgers. When they see a plastic carrier bag outside a tent, they see their next meal!
• Please help us to conserve energy by turning lights off when they are not needed
• You are welcome to paddle in the burn- just look for the stile into the picnic area. For your safety, don’t go near the burn when it’s running high after heavy rain
• Please respect the wildlife- please don’t feed them (it’s bad for them) and don’t go too close (it could be bad for you)
• Please respect the countryside - leave no trace behind you
• We welcome friendly, well-behaved dogs. Please keep your pet on a lead and exercise him or her off site. Dog mess in bags can be placed in the general waste bin. You’ll also find a dog bin near the campsite entrance. Please don’t bring your dogs into any of the campsite buildings. Most importantly, please don’t let your dog get into bad trouble by being out of control. Every year there are incidents in Lochranza involving wild creatures getting killed by pet dogs
• Do enjoy pitch and putt, we now have a new pitch and putt course. Please return putters and balls promptly.
• Please use the path when crossing the golf course. It runs alongside the campsite fence. Follow the white posts with purple arrows, look out for golfers and try to make sure that they see you too. The golfers have right of way.
• The flying of drones is not allowed on, or over, the campsite.
• Please be aware that we do not give refunds in the event of cancellation. We cannot be held responsible for cancellations or damage due to adverse weather conditions. We recommend that you have holiday insurance to protect yourself if you have to cancel your holiday.

The Isle of Arran is served by two Calmac ferry routes:
1. Ardrossan on the North Ayrshire coast to Brodick. Ardrossan has both good road and public transport links
2. Claonaig on Kintyre to Lochranza.
Both services have regular daily sailings. The services are reduced in winter. The sailing to Ardrossan takes approximately 55 minutes. The sailing to Claonaig takes approximately 30 minutes
The Brodick- Ardrossan ferry has a restaurant and shop.

Turn right out of the ferry terminal and head north. Out of Sannox the road climbs over open hillsides then descends into Lochranza. Pass the Isle of Arran Distillery on the left, then shortly after on the right look for the Lochranza Golf Course and Campsite sign. Turn into the car park and you will see the campsite gate ahead
The bus stop is less than 100m from the campsite entrance. Bus timetables are available at the campsite
