What we do

Advocacy & Awareness

We advocate and raise awareness of our members interests, needs and values.

We advocate to government and decision-makers to promote the rights of disabled and older people to access AT and accompanying services.

We advocate to communities, sectors and organisations to break silos and challenge stigma.

Challenge Stigma

We raise the voices of the end-users.

We tell the story of our members and bring their voices to new audiences.

We challenge pre conceived notions of disability and of assistive technology.

Empower & Strengthen

We aim to strengthen our members capacity and equip them with information, insights and knowledge that aids them in their impact.

We strive to provide training opportunities and resources.

We want to build an active and impactful group of champions that can work to make change daily.

Research & Partnerships

Our network is primed to present research from our grassroots – we can measure our perspectives to produce clear evidence for others to use.

We cannot achieve all our goals alone, our strength is our ability to create and utilise partnerships e.g. research, delivery of events or training, outreach.

Develop Community

BATA has an internal network which it will continue to grow to foster innovation, information exchange.

we care about doing what's necessary to break damaging and limiting silos.

We believe in affordable, appropriate and available AT for every child and adult.

BATA brings members together to make sure that the UK makes progress for disabled and older people, the AT industry and other professions related to the sector. To us, it’s crucial that the experts, our members, are at the tables that matter. No one should be without the technology and services they need to participate in every day life and to maintain independence. Together, BATA members make a difference.

We care about more than technology - it’s about people too.

BATA works to destigmatise and raise awareness of assistive technology. That involves talking about tech - but that’s not the whole story.

We know that AT is only as useful as the support services and communities that are available to support disabled and older people - family, friends, carers and support workers such as allied health professionals, teachers, trainers and social workers.
