The process
Once you have made the decision to stop your alcohol addiction, you are nearly there. Yes, it is now just a matter of some medication and some rehabilitation. Which in our detox and rehab centres is actually good fun. You will be looked after by people who care, and who are not going to judge you. Who are going to support you and care for you.
The frightening part
You may be thinking, you cannot live without alcohol. You are so wrong, and it is nothing to be frightened about. I explain this too many of our clients. Once you have been detoxed (Had the alcohol removed form your body in a medically safe way) it is a bit like coming out of a cloud of chaos. All of a sudden things make sense. You’re hearing improves, your smell and taste improves, I even remember how I could see things so much clearer. You can almost see a cloud of chaos spinning around behind you, and you are clear of it. You will not look back. After all, you are not going that way!
We know you will be worried
We know you will be worried about giving up drinking. I was. You have to trust me when I say this. Yes, you can write down all the good things about drinking, and all the bad. You can find many reasons why you are not ready to give up. That is called “denial”. But let us be realistic. You are not well. You are trying to hide things. In most cases, your past. And sadly since you started your road with drinking, your addiction has only ever got worse. Never better.
