A large no-frills shopping centre dedicated to the food and culture of the Far East. There's a large Oriental supermarket containing a wonderfully presented Japanese fishmongers, an excellent tableware shop, a herbal shop and a Sega World arcade! The highlight has to be the food court, which serves up everything from Vietnamese and Korean to Sushi and Dim Sum.

Just in front of the oriental supermarket is Noto Sushi, serving up some of the best Sushi London has to offer. Mama Calabar

Get a taste of Africa in the heart of North West London. The climate might be somewhat different, but the food is authentically out of this world. Declaring itself to be the original Mediterranean restaurant, Mythos is a pleasantly decorated, intimate restaurant serving a range of succulent delicacies including vegetable moussaka and spiced lemon chicken. Bodhran Bar

A stone's throw from Hendon Central tube, the Bodhran is a typical Irish bar with a tendency to attract an older clientele. It has a very friendly atmosphere and hosts a barbecue every Sunday in summer months. There's a big screen showing Sky sports and, for the more athletic, they have a very good football team of their very own.

Carey's Bar

Carey's offers up a large front bar with dark wooden panelling, old black and white pictures of London town and movie stars, while there is a sweet little beer garden at the back. There is a food menu with daily specials and a baguette and ciabatta menu, but  the roast dinners steal the show on a Sunday. Alongside John Smiths on tap, Newcastle Brown Ale and some reasonable house doubles, there are live sports and friendly bar staff.

This pub comes with a history: in 1655 the locals raised a petition stating it was leading the poor into debauchery. Nowadays there's a lot less opposition and is a very popular local boozer. There's no jukebox or gaming machines - just a good pint of real ale and excellent home-cooked food.

The Brent Reservoir

Also known as the Welsh Harp reservoir, this beautiful stretch of water is one of the area's best-kept secrets and provides a countryside oasis for city dwellers. Based on a mile long stretch of water on the borders of Brent and Barnet, the reservoir and surrounding greenery is a wildlife and conservation area home to several species of protected water birds. In recent times, it has become a venue for water-sports, with sailing, canoeing and windsurfing all year round (training and courses on a membership basis).

Roe Green Park

A pretty walled garden and children's play area all make this a very popular hang out for adults and kids alike.

Scratchwood and Moat Mount

Scratchwood and Moat Mount form the largest area of woodland in Barnet. Scratchwood is home to areas of ancient woodland, whilst in the spring there are many woodland flowers like bluebells and wood anemones to see - look out for Muntjac deer and many woodland birds. Moat Mount also has extensive areas of woodland, much of which was once ornamental gardens and therefore has very different characteristics to Scratchwood. The woods are separated by the A1, so you cannot just cross the road from one to the other: there is an underpass down the A1 towards Apex Corner. The woods are managed with the help of annual grants from the Forestry Commission.

Sunnyhill Park

Situated on an open hillside, this park has great views of the surrounding area. There's a tree-lined avenue at the entrance of the park and a very popular café.  It also has good sporting facilities with tennis courts, football and cricket pitches and a children's play area.

Watling Park

There's an imposing York stone entrance to this park with a hill that leads you down to a silk stream and open views across Mill Hill. A formal rose garden nestles within the park and there is also provision for sports and ball games.

Artsdepot

The Artsdepot is a new purpose built cultural centre for North London, offering a vibrant mix of performing and visual arts, arts related training courses and a wide range of participatory activity. Church Farmhouse Museum

This is one of the oldest surviving dwelling houses in the area: built in about 1660, it used to be the farmhouse of a hay and dairy farm until the early twentieth century. Sitting right next to Sunnyhill Park, it's now a local museum, with a permanent display of a Victorian kitchen, dining room and laundry room as well as lots of exhibitions on history, crafts and arts.

The national archive of all national daily and Sunday newspapers printed in the UK from 1801 to the present day. They also have selected overseas papers and popular periodicals. To view this amazing archive you will need a reader's pass, which is available to anyone over the age of 18 with proof of identity.

Kingsbury Amateur Operatic Society

Founded in 1970, the society produces two full stage musical productions each year ranging from the classical to American Musicals; G&S to Offenbach; the ancient and virtually forgotten "Rose of Persia" to the brand new "Rags".

RAF Museum

Britain's only museum dedicated to all things aviation, this is a huge and impressive collection of over 70 aircraft and related memorabilia and artefacts. There are rare airforce uniforms and medals, over 6,500 paintings, drawings and posters, and 250,000 photographs dating from WWI to modern day. There's also a library and film archive, and plenty of hands-on, child-friendly exhibits, including a flight simulator.
