About Higher Aunemouth Farm

A small and basic but pretty camp ground located 3/4 mile from Bantham Beach, close to Thurlestone and Bigbury and 4½ miles from the South Hams town of Kingsbridge. Our main camping fields do not have hot water or electricity or designated pitches but our other field, ‘WIlliams Field‘ does have more facilities

3 TENT PITCHES LEFT FOR THE ‘SWOOSH’ WEEKEND OF JULY 5/6 ON THE MAIN CAMPING FIELDS & 2 TENT PITCHES FREE ON WILLIAMS FIELD.

*2nd Field fully booked from June 10th until the morning of the June 14th.

Higher Aunemouth Farm campsite offers simple, wild, rustic camping for tents and camper vans  within easy reach of this beautiful stretch of the South Hams coastline in South Devon and a 20 minute walk to the village of Bantham. We have 2 types of camping. The main camping fields are very simple with just compost loos, taps for water and a cold water outdoor shower with around 40 pitches available. Our other field is Williams Field which has 4 tent pitches (no vans), access to a hot shower, a small shared field kitchen plus a water tap, firebowl and picnic table on each pitch. Well behaved dogs welcome on all camping fields. Dog restrictions apply on the main part of the beach May 1st – Sep 31st

We have lots of families with young children staying on the site, we kindly ask that music is turned off at 9.30pm and no noise please after this time or you may be asked to leave.

Sorry but we do not take groups of under 18’s unless accompanied by at least one parent.

Facilities on the main camping fields are:

There are eleven composting toilets or ‘long-drop’ loos. Sawdust is used to help the waste matter gradually decompose. As long as no non-biodegradable items go in or chemicals, the loos are completely environmentally friendly. I’m afraid we don’t have an Elsan.

No electricity on the main camping fields.

There are 4 taps (mains drinking water), sinks in each field and an outside cold shower which has a wooden surround for privacy.

Campsite 3Recycling and rubbish
We champion recycling and have bins for you to separate anything that is recyclable; food waste, silver foil, plastics, glass, paper, cardboard. There is also a bin for general non-recyclable rubbish. Please help us to protect the environment and to keep the campsite eco-friendly and sustainable.

Black bin rubbish is expensive to dispose of so the more we can recycle the better and this helps keep camping costs down.

BBQs  & Firebowls
Please do not throw bbq ashes into the hedge, extinguish with water immediately after use and dispose of them in the ‘ash’ bins dotted around the site or the rubbish area. BBQs and Firebowls are permitted but off the ground. If you are using disposable ones, please grab some bricks which are near the rubbish point and put under your bbq to prevent the grass from burning. There are lots of trees in the field so please, no open fires. Wood and kindling is available on request at £7 a bag. We also have 5 fire-pits/bbqs available for hire at £8 per night or £15 with wood per night.

welcome sign

To walk to the beach avoiding the road: turn right out of the site, walk along the main road for about 100 metres and then turn right at the ‘farms only’ sign. Go down the hill and turn left at the bottom and just keep going straight following the estuary path for about 10/15 mins eventually bringing you the the back of Bantham stores and shop. Turn right at the end of the shop to go to the village, past The Sloop Inn and onto the beach.

The ferry between Cockleridge (Bigbury side) and Coronation boat house (Bantham) is running until the end of September 10-12am & 2-4pm every day @ £4.50 per person one way
