Bay County Council on Aging is a private, non-profit 501(c) (3) corporation funded through federal and state grants received from State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs, State of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Advantage Aging Solutions, and from local funds received from United Way, Bay County Commission, local churches, civic groups, community organizations, private businesses and individual donors.
Bay County Council on Aging is governed by a Board of Directors and directed by a Chief Executive Officer. Members of the community serve as Directors, in a volunteer capacity, and govern the policies and procedures for the agency.
Services are provided throughout Bay County to elderly, disabled and disadvantaged individuals who need assistance to maintain their independence, health and quality of life.
Florida Law and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in public accommodation on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, handicap, or of marital status. Persons believing they have been discriminated against on these conditions may file a complaint with the Florida Commission on Human Relations at (850) 488-7082 or (800) 352-8170 (voice messaging).
Each year more than $300,000 must be raised locally to match federal and state dollars. A $1.00 donation generates $10.00 in services to a senior adult. This can provide 5 hot, nutritious meals to a homebound senior through the Meals on Wheels program.
