Personal Bio
  • I have a passion for Japanese culture, including anime and manga. I've visited Japan seven times at present... and I'm not planning on stopping at that number of trips! I've been to many places in Japan and made some fantastic memories - especially as I met my wife-to-be on a guided tour, proposed to her at the Sorakara point in the Tokyo Sky Tree and we spent our honeymoon in Japan. As well as visiting Japan, I also occasionally visit Japanese culture events and conventions in the UK. I'm trying to learn the Japanese language but I'm not a natural linguistic and it's slow progress for me.
  • As an otaku, I specialise in collecting anime figures and most extensive in my collection are Nendoroids. The anime series of all time that I hold in high regard are Toradora! and Gunbuster. More recent anime I recommend watching include Parasyte, Nagi no Asakura (A Lull In The Sea) and Shin Sekai Yori (From The New World). My favourite manga is Keroro Gunso (Sgt Frog) and I'm currently reading Ajin: Demi-Human. I'm a subscriber on Crunchyroll and highly recommend signing up to it.
  • I've dabbled in web design and have experience as an amateur with using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, PHP and SQL. In fact, this web page is an example of my current work. In the past, I also developed the web site and registration system for the Alcon 2010 convention.
  • In the past I've created various illustrations and graphics. Although I don't practice art these days, I've still got an eye for detail when it comes to visuals.
  • I have some familiarity with Japanese sports cars but it's an interest that's very hard to fulfil. I can also tell you about Japanese trains. Anything about motorcycles, boats and planes though is outside of my knowledge.
