Are we looking at Yankuba Minteh, or is he too raw for what we are looking for in replacements?

 0

{Ed002's Note - No, he is simply a random name. Newcastle have no intention to sell.}

Hello, Eds, I hope you are all well.

Is there anything true to the Mbuemo links?

 2

{Ed002's Note - Bryan Mbuemo (RW/F) Seen as a potential upgrade to Miguel Almiron by Newcastle. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool and having read the article in Equip they are not saying Liverpool are interested.}

We should be all over this. Top player, ticks so many boxes. Similar to Mane at Southampton.

 12

31 May 2024 13:43:19
That's who I would go for if we to buy a forward. premiership experience, good age, can play right side or up top.

 5

31 May 2024 14:30:21
I agree onekiss is he the same age mane was also?

 2

31 May 2024 15:40:14
OMG. scrapping the bottom.
instead we can give opportunity to some youngsters.

YNWA.

31 May 2024 15:50:43
2 years remianing on his contract, with an option for another likely means 50m+ but premiership ready and rarely gets injured.

31 May 2024 16:15:08
Yep he’s the same age as Mane was. he's a great presser like Mane was and look at their numbers

Mane 2014/ 15 - 2015/ 16 per 90
0.44 Non penalty goals/ assists
0.57 expected goals/ assists
1.53 key passes
2.76 shots

Mbeumo 2022/ 23 - 2023/ 24 p90s
0.44 Non penalty goals/ assists
0.58 expected goals/ assists
1.53 key passes
2.31 shots.

Mane was 24 when he joined Liverpool and scored 11 goals in 37 games the season before he signed. Mbeumo is 24 and scored 9 goals in 25 league games last season. If the club feel that Mbeumo is ready to make the next step the way Mane did he would be an excellent signing.

Said a few weeks back I’d like Bowen or Mbuemo. In my opinion they are the two best right wingers in the Prem outside of the big 6. Palmer and Saka aren’t realistic options. You can’t even estimate a price because the answer would just be “no”.

Mbuemo is younger so makes more sense on that front. But then Bowen is HG and doesn’t have the AFCON inconvenience. I’d be well happy with either.

31 May 2024 23:46:20
I Wonder what a prime Sadio would be worth now. Explosive, Clinical, Aggressive 👌🏻.

 0

01 Jun 2024 05:38:17
Probably the same price as Mbuemo, @LiverpoolFC8.

 0

01 Jun 2024 06:56:57
I like both players as well but I would prefer Bowen.

01 Jun 2024 07:01:19
Mbeumo is probably the most typical Michael Edwards signing . Has he got injury issues though or has he just missed a chunk this season?

 0

01 Jun 2024 07:11:32
Mohammed kudus of West Ham is another that you could see us go for not sure on his price as he only moved last year but seems to have had a decent 1st year at the hammers . Slot will know him from his Ajax days and is the right age similar stats to Mbeumo seems to be able to run and carry the ball for fun . Also very mane esque player . Maybe if Diaz where to leave and we received big money kudus could be the man to replace him .

Love the comment Ed002 "Seen as an upgrade to Miguel Almiron" that is not hard!

 0

01 Jun 2024 08:37:07
I like Kudus but I don't see there's any chance we can get him this transfer window.

01 Jun 2024 10:38:38
We should be signing players like Chiesa, Kravadona and Rodrigo. Players who can walk into our team instead of backup players like mbeumo or bakayoko.

King Carlos are you Jack Grealish in disguise?

Hi Ed002

You mentioned Curtis Jones will likely stay. Do you know if there is interest from other clubs. Aston Villa were spoken about as an option a while ago

He performed really well in periods last season and has certainly upped a level. However, I wonder if that is his ceiling and now with an England call up and his stock high, is it time to cash in?

While he is a local lad and no doubt loves the club, I suspect his contract is far below the likes of Gravenberch. He may feel he needs to move on to get the financial rewards and establish himself as a first on the team sheet starter for regular England inclusion.

Just a hunch but I wonder if he might move this summer.

We have other similar players to CJ. If someone like Ederson (Atalanta) could come in, it would better balance the midfield options, IMO.

Noted, you mention Ederson could be an option.

TIA and grateful for the information you share.

 1

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Curtis Jones to stay now.

Ederson (CM) Having a good season and attracting interest from Spurs, Newcastle, Manchester United, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. Barcelona have sent scouts. Atalanta want an auction if he is to be sold - starting at €40M. With CL football and Gasperini staying put it makes it less likely he will be sold.}

31 May 2024 10:51:07
I would rather we bide our time and wait until Adam Wharton becomes available than sign another midfielder this summer.

 2

31 May 2024 10:52:11
Haven't seen enough of Ederson over a longer period but he was an absolute powerhouse in the games vs us and Leverkusen. Can he deliver those performances consistently? I don't know.

Local Liverpool lad, stand out when the England U-21’s last year - man of the match in the semi and the final, if memory serves. The club has stood by him for 2 - 3 years as his body matures (not forgetting the freakish, scary eye injury), never let the club down, breaks into the full England squad just before the Euros ……. Cracking idea to sell him.

 23

31 May 2024 19:03:22
As his body matures he's 23 now it's matured. He can hold on to the ball fair enough but letting it go is a different story. Just look at his assists. Sentimental bull doesn't win titles.

 4

31 May 2024 20:53:40
@Endo3, nothing to do with sentiment - I have a different view on his capabilities and potential. I assume you missed or didn’t understand what Klopp has been saying for the past 9 years about the squad and the stuff about the ‘right player’.

 1

31 May 2024 23:24:49
Unfortunately Jones isn’t a starter in a team looking to win the title. Although he’s got a good first touch and his technique is ok, his decision making is not the best, he holds on to the ball too long and positional sense and awareness isn’t great. If he’s happy to be a squad filler then fine, but in no way is he ever an automatic starter as things stand.

{Ed025's Note - spot on VV..

 0

31 May 2024 23:30:26
If you purely want to look at numbers, Wiji had 22 goals and 16 assists in all competitions throughout his time with us. Jones is currently at 16 goals and 14 assists. So his numbers aren't that different when compared to Wiji, especially when you consider that he was much younger and was still developing when he first broke into our team.

Btw, I'm not trying to diss Wiji or anything like that. Just wanted to show that there is more to the game than just numbers.

31 May 2024 23:51:09
Curtis Jones. Squad player at best. He doesn’t get in City team, Arsenal team, Madrid, etc.
We need to think bigger, better. We’re back in the Champions League now, stay there.

 1

01 Jun 2024 05:45:06
Wasn’t Jones in the squad when we got back into the Champions League then?

 2

01 Jun 2024 07:09:33
ViktorVaughan and the rest of you wools haven't got a clue what it's like to play for your home town club, What's up with you, new manager need all new shiny foreign players? Stop having a go and get behind the lad .

31 May 2024 08:21:30
Could Gravenberch be off? I have read of rumoured interest from Turkey, but I think we put a fair bit of effort into getting him to give up on him. I think he looked a little more settled towards the end of the season and feel we have only scraped the surface of his potential. Personally hope we keep for at least another season to see how he progresses.

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

31 May 2024 11:03:52
Nothing against the player, but it was a surprising signing after Macca/ Szobo had been secured. We needed a DM and got another 8 in Grav.

I am not against moving him on to replace with a more defensive-minded midfielder.

 13

31 May 2024 12:19:46
Who would want to sign for us if they thought they could be moved on a year later . Give him a chance.

 3

31 May 2024 12:47:12
Like carvalho then.

 3

31 May 2024 12:57:44
scouse john, I doubt selling Gravenberch on is going to make our club a less attractive destination. It's ok to be ruthless from time to time. We have needed more of that recently.

 4

31 May 2024 13:18:46
To be honest based on how Gravs performances started to improve with limited game time and Szlob's tailed off despite playing most games I'd say Szob is further down the pecking order than Grav right now.

That said I think both have very high ceilings and wouldn't be moving either on.

 4

31 May 2024 13:48:37
I'd like to see Grav given a go at DM. He has the physical attributes needed in the role. I love Endo and Macca has done a good job most of the time when he's been asked to play there, but for me they're both too lightweight to be really effective.

 2

31 May 2024 17:17:07
Grav as a DM hahahaha behave, he gets bullied now in advanced positions and falls over too frequently. Not a chance.

Good morning Ed002,

If you have some time this morning I would appreciate your opinion if not it's fine as it's a subjective question.

Regarding van der berg, to me he looks ready to step up and playing at a decent level. The level he is playing at and performing well is of equal or better to the Portugal league. In your opinion is he as good an option as the player profile we are looking at? Not even considering Colwil in this as not an option.

Also, regarding Summerville and Bakayoko both seem to be high up our list but represent a huge risk considering the level they are playing at. Do you believe they would be an addition to graduate into the team if Salah stays his final year of his contract? If it's a direct replacement who in your opinion outside these two would you recommend considering readiness to step up.

Apologies for the rambling on and please don't feel obligated to respond as it is a subjective question.

Thanks for your time.

 4

{Ed002's Note - Sepp van den Berg (CB) He likely won't get a chance as a starter at Liverpool and will probably be sold in the summer to raise funds - could be a mistake by the club. There is no release clause for Mainz but they will have a a first pick option if he were to be sold - and they have made their interest known and will look for an option to buy the player who has had a great season. Brentford and Wolfsburg offer options. Will need to speak to the club and see what other options he has.

If Salah were to stay to run down his contract then the club could look to bring a player in to provide cover and then to take over next year. I still think Marcus Edwards would be a very good option but the focus of Liverpool is on others and I expect they will soon talk to PSV.}

L’equipe reporting this morning that we’re interested in Mbuemo.

 2

31 May 2024 10:13:48
Thank you for the response Ed002.

I don’t see the logic buying a CB of similar profile without trying VDB out as both options have a risk.

I suspected we may try for Bakayoko which I assume will be regardless of who moves. Would have liked Kudus with him having a year in the prem but I think would be above Liverpools means.

Thank you ed.

31 May 2024 11:51:33
Can I check we are talking about the same Marcus Edwards? 6 goals this season for Sporting and seemingly not even a regular starter for them? 25 years old no caps? this is all the information I have on him, having never seen him play, so I would be genuinely fascinated to know what it is about him Ed that makes you think he would be an ideal replacement for Salah. Honestly I'm so intrigued. As someone who is the furthest away from a scout you could possibly be, I'd be so interested to know what someone who understands the game and knows what to look for is seeing in a player that makes them think they would be a good or bad signing. I just look at number of goals on Wikipedia and think well that person isn't going to replace Salah's 25+ goals every year! But there is obviously so much more to it, Ed if you could share what it is about Marcus Edwards that makes you think he would excel at Liverpool I'd be a very keen reader!

 1

{Ed002's Note - It is not about replacing the goals Salah has scored it is about having a RW who can stay fit, score goals and create chances for others. Right now efforts are being made for a return to Spurs at a remarkably low fee - so you don't need to worry about him joining Liverpool.}

 6

01 Jun 2024 08:35:43
So true, it shows how heavily reliant we’ve been on our RW. that’s not even normal. The man’s pulling in goals like a striker and has been consistently for years. Can’t see another RW in the world having done that in the same time period, to everyone saying bin him off, over the hill, past it, slow. put some respect on the guys name. Truth is once slot takes the reins and if salah does move on, the system will change and our goals will come from different positions all together or a better overall combination like it was. People expecting salahs replacement to get 25+ goals a season each season are delusional. Who knows, maybe slot gets Darwin firing and the majority of goals start coming from him. don’t write these guys off before they’ve even had a chance under the new manager. Some of the fans on this site would sell their own nan if it meant they could have a new shiny one!

 2

30 May 2024 19:40:55
Ed, you've really given us a lot this year. I was just wondering if there's any name that Liverpool have shown quite a bit of interest but doesn't get mentioned often?

Also, would you say Bakayoko and Pacho seem like highest on the list right now? Anyone else you can think would be as high as them?

 2

{Ed002's Note - I cannot reasonably say who is higest on the list are but Bakayoko is there with the likes of Summerville. Pacho has the the likes of Silva and Inacio to perhaps contend with. As a wildcard maybe Ederson to replace Gravenberch.}

 9

30 May 2024 21:26:32
Silva and Ederson would be excellent.

 3

31 May 2024 04:33:49
Inacio Ederson Bakayoko
I would be happy with that but I have to be honest, I would prefer Kudus over Bakayoko.

 1

30 May 2024 21:43:26
Do we have interest in Kravadona at nopoli or Chiesa at juve? Thanks.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Lavorpool has no interest in Kravadona at nopoli but there is interest in Chiesa at Jove. Try searching.}

 3

30 May 2024 21:59:08
Edd002 could gravenberch leave this window? Thought he was a poor buy.

 1

{Ed002's Note - Milan offer an option.}

 2

30 May 2024 22:33:10
Excellent response Ed. Thanks a mill.

31 May 2024 08:30:07
I'd prefer Doak over Bakayoko, and before people tell me he isn't ready. either is Bakayoko, not for us anyway. if i think one of our academy players will be better than a prospective signing within a year or two i'd rather just go with the academy signing. if Mo stays Bakayoko will only be a backup which Doak can do and if Mo goes then in my opinion neither are ready to replace him at this time but down the road Doak has as good a chance of doing it as Bakayoko without spending a small fortune. Also sends out a good message to the academy and any top kids were trying to sign in the future.

 4

31 May 2024 08:46:44
Bakayoko is miles ahead of Doak. Doak is not ready yet.

If Salah needs a rest or gets an injury mid season and we’ve got a big game against arsenal, city, united etc, would you feel comfortable playing Doak at right wing m?

 5

31 May 2024 09:25:29
Why Keith, beccause he came to us? if he stayed at celtic he'd be playing every week by now, same if he was at a club in the Netherlands.

Cracks me up.
