Brought up on the Isle of Skye Ian graduated in Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art. He now lives near Glasgow and returns to Skye regularly.
''Being raised on Skye has had a definite influence on my paintings.
Utilising a limited palette of mainly blue and grey muted tones I endeavour to capture essence and atmosphere. Often my paintings are quite minimal. I feel this helps convey the feeling of cold and solitude which can be experienced on Scottish Islands especially during the winter months.
Mostly my paintings are in oil, however recently I have begun to experiment more with acrylics.''
I have been away from painting for a few years now because of family commitments however I am now happy to be back in my studio and looking forward to finding inspiration once again.
All paintings are original mostly in oil and more recently acrylic.
