With nearly 25 years dedicated to the field of disability, I bring a wealth of expertise and a Master's Degree in English from the University of Bombay. Furthering my credentials, I have completed a postgraduate course in Human Rights and obtained a Novell Certified Internet Professional (NCIP) qualification. My passion lies in making the world truly accessible and inclusive for all.
Residing in the Maximum city of Bombay, now known as Mumbai, I have dedicated over two and a half decades to championing disability rights and accessibility. Throughout my career, my focus has been on empowering individuals with disabilities and promoting their rights.
Sharing Expertise, Shaping Solutions
I offer my expertise in areas like the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (RPDA 2016), the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), accessibility audits, and universal design for research, public speaking, and consultancy projects. For each project, I tailor my approach, working either independently or partnering with a team of fellow disability experts to deliver insightful solutions.
My work encompasses several key areas:
Practical Solutions: I have been involved in developing accessible technologies and promoting inclusive practices to ensure that individuals with disabilities have the tools they need to thrive.
Policy Formulation: I have played a significant role in shaping disability legislation and providing legal guidance to ensure the effective implementation of policies that support individuals with disabilities.
Advocacy and Awareness: Through campaigning and public engagement, I have worked to build advocacy networks and drive social change, raising awareness about the rights and needs of persons with disabilities.
Building a Collaborative Future
I believe in the power of collaboration to achieve lasting change. My dynamic network, coupled with a commitment to working alongside dedicated partners, ensures that every project benefits from a wealth of experience and diverse perspectives.
Beyond my advocacy work, I hold distinguished roles that include serving as:
the State Icon for the Election Commission of Maharashtra State, where I am committed to upholding electoral integrity and promoting accessible voting practices.
Additionally, as a member of the Supreme Court Committee on Accessibility, I contribute to the development of Accessibility Standards and Guidelines for Courts in India.
Further, I am also a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Centre of Disability Studies, NALSAR University of Law in Hyderabad, India. In this role, I conduct research and contribute to scholarly discourse.
As a passionate advocate for open-source solutions, I champion the use of free and open software to create accessible tools and resources for all. Embracing the GNU/Open Source movement, I am dedicated to leveraging technology for the benefit of individuals with disabilities.
In my leisure time, I find joy in exploring the world of films and series, allowing me to unwind and find inspiration outside of my professional endeavours.
