About Project Health Resilience (PHR)

PHR was developed as a response
to research highlighting the need
for health literacy at ‘transition age’
where young people may fall
through the ‘gap’.

Project Health Resilience: Equipping Young Londoners with Core Health Literacy Skills

Project Health Resilience (PHR) is a school and youth setting-based health education intervention for young people aged 16 – 19 years across London. This programme, which started in Camden, is a partnership of the NHS Legacy and Health Equity Partnership, local councils, the NHS, UKHSA, and the GLA, with support from senior London leaders.

Four bespoke health literacy sessions, developed with young people and teachers, are delivered by NHS doctors and public health professionals in school, educational, and youth settings, with the wider ambition to reduce the gap in health literacy education for young people as they transition to adulthood. The four sessions cover mental health, emergency first aid, screening and immunisations, and how to effectively use health services.
