The Sikh Gurudwara of NC

Gurbani Kirtan

Gurbani Kirtan refers to Sikh devotional music which is priceless jewel that brings bliss and countless virtues into our lives. Kirtan is one of the most important aspects of Sikhism that refers to the singing of the Sacred Hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib accompanied by music.

Youth Services

Our Youth Representatives lead or coordinate an array of events every year that provide volunteer hours, leadership opportunities, but most importantly, hands on Seva experiences to develop GurSikhi values for our youth.

Gurmat School

Gurbani and Rehat require every Sikh child to learn Gurmukhi. Gurmat School strives to educate our children to read, understand and live Gurbani as it was lived by our Gurus and ancestors.

Guru Ka Langar

Guru Ka Langar is a practice where volunteer GurSikhs prepare food to be shared with every visitor to the Gurudwara free of charge. The objective of this Seva is to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves, and to make sure everyone is treated with equal love and respect that we all deserve.

Public Relations

Do you want to know who the Sikhs are? We can come to you or you can visit our Gurudwara and share our values with you so that together we can build a more peaceful and hopeful community. We already work with many local government agencies, public schools and universities and church groups.

Sikh Library

The SGNC Library is a treasure trove of resources for those who wish to research our faith in depth. Visitors are welcome to read books on site, and with reference, you can also borrow books. We also provide the Gutkas and Pothis (books with collections of Sikh Scriptures) for free.

About Us

The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina (SGNC), as an organization, originated in 1983. A group of Sikh families in North Carolina realized the need to establish a Gurudwara in our state where we could establish Sangat and Pangat.

Gurudwara is a threshold to the divine. Sangat is where everyone gathers to learn the values of Guru, and Pangat is where we practice those values. At The Sikh Gurudwara of North Carolina, we strive to learn our Sikh Faith as taught by Guru Nanak Ji.

The Gurudwara facilities were inaugurated in 1986, and we are in an expansion project to serve the needs of the next generation of Sikhs. We learn and sing the glory of God through the Bani (words) of Guru, and we share our blessings with everyone equally.

Our mission is to provide the facilities in the state of North Carolina for the learning and the practice of Sikh Faith, and to share information about the Sikh people with the people of North Carolina so that we can be informed residents of the Tar Heel state, and the United States of America.

If you would like more information about the Sikh Faith, please feel free to visit our Gurudwara Saheb during any of the regularly scheduled programs.
