West Marin Senior Services is the organization that allows our community of West Marin to age in our community with dignity, feel safe, and be happy.

We’re invested in our people and our mission. But in order for us to keep doing the work that we’re doing, we need for you to invest in us.

To donate appreciated stock, bonds or mutual funds, consider the following:

Generous investors often consider their stock portfolio when it is time to make a charitable gift. If you have stock that has appreciated, you have unrealized gains that can enable you to support WMSS and also receive additional tax benefits:

  • You can take a tax deduction at the full current fair market value of the stock.
  • You will NOT have to pay tax on any capital gain (note: You must have held the donated shares for more than a year – capital gain would be taxable if the stock were sold and not given directly to WMSS).

Cash or Check

Cash gifts begin working for West Marin Senior Services immediately. Please make your check payable to “West Marin Senior Services”

Endowment Funds

In addition to its annual operating needs, West Marin Senior Services seeks support for its endowment. An endowment is a pool of money invested for long-term growth and income. Earnings from the endowment support the general operating budget or designated specific programs. The principal in an endowment generates annual income for the organization. West Marin Senior Services has a general endowment fund which is managed by the Marin Community Foundation. Let us know if you are interested in our Endowment Fund.

Bequest

You can provide unrestricted or designated gifts for West Marin Senior Services in your Will through a bequest. You can choose to leave a dollar amount or a percentage of your estate to West Marin Senior Services. WMSS recommends you always check with your financial advisor and attorney.

Memorial Gifts and Gifts in Honor

You may wish to remember someone special in your life by making a gift in memory of or in honor of.

Life Insurance

You can name West Marin Senior Services as the beneficiary of your insurance policy and receive a tax deduction.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A Charitable Gift Annuity is a simple agreement which provides you with a fixed, guaranteed, life-time stream of income in exchange for a gift of cash or securities. You would also receive an immediate income tax deduction.

Gifts of Securities, Stocks and Bonds

Stock may be transferred to West Marin Senior Services by your broker. Gifts of stock often generate tax savings and the avoidance of capital gains. You may transfer stocks, bonds, and mutual funds directly to WMSS at Charles Schwab (contact us for the account number).

Real Estate and Property

You can give land, personal property, a vacation home, or rental property to West Marin Senior Services. These types of gifts require careful planning and we would be delighted to assist you. You may donate your home but retain the right to live in it and receive numerous benefits. You may also donate revenue from a business but retain the ownership. These gifts may generate tax savings and the avoidance of capital gains. WMSS recommends you always check with your financial advisor and attorney.

Matching Gifts

Corporations sometimes match the donations of their employees. Check with yours and request an employee matching gift form.

  • Deliver a meal to a home bound senior.
  • Drive seniors to doctor’s appointments, on errands and to socialize. (Reimbursement available through our Trip Trans program).
  • Help us deliver a top notch dining and social experience once a week at Community Lunch at the Dance Palace.
  • Provide companionship and a listening ear to homebound elderly residents who lack the support of family and friends.
  • Become a Friendly Visitor at Stockstill House and share your talent or interests with resident seniors.
  • Contribute to organizing the monthly tea at Stockstill House.
  • Volunteer in the office.
  • Help with mailings.
  • Fill out a volunteer application and mail back to West Marin Senior Services.

Welcome to Stockstill House.

Located less than a mile from the main crossroads of the picturesque and historic town of Point Reyes Station, Stockstill House offers high quality, 24-hour personalized care for eight residents, in a warm and spacious home. Owned and operated by West Marin Senior Services, Stockstill House is a state-licensed residential care facility for the elderly with a secured perimeter, staffed by trained and qualified professionals. For eight residents, Stockstill House means safety, comfort and professional supervision that provides families with peace of mind knowing their loved one’s physical, emotional and social needs are being met in a personal, attentive and caring way.

West Marin Senior Services Gallery for Art is a community effort to bring art work of West Marin older adults to our community. This effort was made possible by donations and volunteers who to installed and painted the WMSS Volunteer Center. The first opening in February was a grand affair and a celebration for all.
